12 Gift Ideas They Haven't Seen Before
The problem with gifts isn't the budget. It's that everyone buys from the same shelf. Here are twelve that aren't on it.
Under ₹500
- The mixtape, reimagined. A playlist experience — songs with a handwritten-style note explaining why each one. Costs less than a CD and never scratches.
- Their name in stars. A star map of the night sky on your date. Printables exist for a few hundred rupees.
- The best-bite jar. A jar of paper strips, each naming the best thing you've eaten together. Add one strip for every future meal.
Under ₹2,000
- A handwritten cookbook. Five of their favourite meals, in your handwriting, with the disasters included.
- The "one day" book. A small book of "one day we'll..." pages, partially filled by you, waiting for them.
- A surprise interview. Ask their friends to say one thing about them, record it, and turn it into a best-friend experience. They'll ugly-cry. It's fine.
Priceless
- The first-date recreation. Same place, same order, same seats. The gift is the memory, wrapped in nostalgia.
- A skill, learned for them. Learn to bake their favourite thing. The failures are part of the gift.
- Their story, told properly. Write their life so far — the places, the people, the turning points — and present it as a keepsake experience.
- The boredom box. A box of tiny notes: "for when you're bored — call me", "for a rainy day — this song".
- A "do not open until" calendar. 12 envelopes, one per month, each with a tiny surprise.
- The gift of being seen. The last one's free: notice one small thing they love and gift exactly that.
The best gifts say "I know you" — not "I bought this".
You know them. Pick the one that fits.
